MCA approval for LGS Avonmouth

Our Avonmouth depot has recently joined our Pembroke depot in receiving MCA approval, allowing them to service SOLAS liferafts and lifejackets. This is a great step in continuing to grow our support network to our clients, and helping them manage their marine safety equipment. The process involves a number of stages, including gaining a pyrotechnics storage licence (for the storage of new and time expired flares), a wholesalers dealers licence (for the storage and distribution of Category C first aid kits, which are classed as controlled drugs) and an inspection from the MCA themselves to check the processes, equipment and location are all suitable and to their high standards.

For any marine safety equipment requirements, including liferaft hire, new equipment, servicing or coding advice, please get in contact.

Happy Birthday LGS Dudley

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of the opening of LGS Dudley. The depot has rapidly become a fantastic addition to the LGS family, as well as the lifting community in their local area. Offering the hire, sales and inspection of lifting and height safety equipment, with plenty of available stock and well qualified engineers on hand, the future looks bright. Asked about the first year of trading, depot manager Dave Hickinbottom commented “It’s been a fantastic first 12 months with LGS, building a team and network of clients. The opportunities to continue to grow the depot never stop presenting themselves to us, so we can’t wait to see what year two bring us. We are constantly increasing our stock holding and hire fleet, to allow us to service the wide range of customers we have in the area”.

New Redruth Depot Manager

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Paul Speakman to the position of Depot Manager for Redruth filling a vacancy that arose because of an internal promotion.

Paul has been with the company for five years, has wide experience of lifting equipment and will be a welcome addition to the LGS management team.

We wish him every success in his new position.

New Area Manager – Lee Abdalla

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Lee Abdalla to the position of LGS Area Manager.  Lee joined the company six years ago as a depot manager and was instrumental in growing our then fledging Redruth depot into the thriving location it is today.  The company is pleased to see opportunities arise as a result of our continued expansion and even happier that existing team members are getting the chance to develop their careers within the business that they have helped grow.

We wish Lee the best of luck in this new role.

Newport go North

When a client urgently required some large slings and shackles for a lift in Lanarkshire, our Newport depot didn’t hesitate to offer to help. With the items required early the following morning, the items were checked then packed in the LGS van, for a pre-dawn drive north. Once delivered, the driver had enough time for some scenic photos, before driving back in time to watch the football.

This type of order shows our commitment to ensuring our clients have the equipment they need whenever and wherever they are. It also shows how committed our staff are to helping these clients.

Happy Birthday to LGS

Today marks the 12th anniversary of the formation of LGS. The company has changed dramatically, from one man with a laptop, now to 8 depots throughout the south of England and Wales, plus our new depot in Dudley. This growth would not have been possible without the support of our suppliers, customers and staff contributing to this fantastic journey.

We are already excited about the next 12 years!

RNLI Ambassador Scheme

With many depots in key coastal areas, and sunny weather on it’s way, LGS has signed up to the RNLI Ambassador scheme, using our commitment to marine safety to encourage those on or near water this summer to think safety first. #BeCoastSafe

If you are heading to the beach to swim, walk, surf or just relax, be sure to check the local tide timetable first.

Defence Employer Recognition Scheme

LGS has just received the Bronze Award in the MOD Employer Recognition Scheme, in recognition to our commitment to the Armed Forces, with regards to supporting ex service personnel, reservists and spouses who work for us, and actively looking to recruit staff members from a military background. We recognise the important role the Armed Forces play in today’s society, and the extensive skillset those that have served or are serving can offer to our business. LGS Is already a proud member of the Armed Forces Covenant.

35t winch and power unit

Our Newport depot have recently arranged for the delivery of a 35t winch, power unit and snatch blocks to go to a client somewhere sunny, to help with the installation of a bridge span. This shows the type of equipment we can supply when asked, and not just to our local UK customers. Plenty of our engineers volunteered to help with the installation!

LGS Pembroke – MCA Inspection

Our Pembroke depot has recently passed their annual MCA inspection with flying colours, allowing us to continue servicing our clients marine safety equipment to the highest standard. This includes the servicing of liferafts and lifejackets, key safety items on board any vessel, and in most cases a required on an annual basis.
