LGS has just received the Bronze Award in the MOD Employer Recognition Scheme, in recognition to our commitment to the Armed Forces, with regards to supporting ex service personnel, reservists and spouses who work for us, and actively looking to recruit staff members from a military background. We recognise the important role the Armed Forces play in today’s society, and the extensive skillset those that have served or are serving can offer to our business. LGS Is already a proud member of the Armed Forces Covenant.
Our Newport depot have recently arranged for the delivery of a 35t winch, power unit and snatch blocks to go to a client somewhere sunny, to help with the installation of a bridge span. This shows the type of equipment we can supply when asked, and not just to our local UK customers. Plenty of our engineers volunteered to help with the installation!
Our Pembroke depot has recently passed their annual MCA inspection with flying colours, allowing us to continue servicing our clients marine safety equipment to the highest standard. This includes the servicing of liferafts and lifejackets, key safety items on board any vessel, and in most cases a required on an annual basis.
With skilled and experienced service engineers, and locations throughout the South of England and Wales, LGS offers a full support package for your vessel.
LGS started 2021 with a request to supply spreader beams and lifting equipment for a client to lift a bridge. This included a 15.5m modular spreader beam, two 7m modular spreader beams, and an assortment of sling, shackles and chains. The complete set was supplied from the LGS hire fleet, leading to another successful lift.
LGS is proud to announce we have signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant, to support the armed forces community (regulars, reserves, current and veterans). The support comes in a number of ways, including:
- Promoting LGS as an Armed Forces friendly organisation
- Seeking to employ veterans and service spouses
- Fully supporting employees who are reservists
- Actively participate in Armed Forces Day
As a business we appreciate the commitment our armed service personnel give, and also recognize the skills and knowledge they can bring to a business like ours, whether retired or active as a reservist. By signing up to the Covenant, we are giving our commitment to them to help achieve and aspire.

LGS is proud to announce the opening of a new location in Birmingham, the Depot will be run by Dave Hickinbottom – a popular and experienced manager with a huge depth of knowledge about lifting products and the region he will be serving.
As LGS has expanded so has the geographical area in which it trades, indeed it is this wider activity that has driven the expansion to places further afield. This will bring the total number of branches to 9, each one with a unique solution to the requirements of their local area.
The current economic climate may be uncertain, but we are confident that the sound business philosophy that LGS employ, matched with the experience and drive of the new team can only lead to further success and growth.
