Course Title: Safe Use of Personal Fall Protection Equipment – NPORS
Location: LGS Training Centre or Customer’s Premises

Who Should Attend: Employees using Overhead Travelling Cranes, Supervisors, Health & Safety Representatives. Maintenance Personnel Scaffold / Riggers /Slingers / MEWPS Operators.

 

Pre-Requisites:
Operators should be over 18 years of age, physically fit with regard to eyesight & hearing, and not afraid of Heights

 

Course Objectives:
  • Demonstrate a basic knowledge of legislation that effects personal fall protection and lifting operation H&S act 1974, LOLER, PUWER ,Height Safety 2005
  • Be able to select the correct equipment for personal fall protection and PPE i.e. harness auxiliary and equipment
  • Be able to use correct procedures for risk assessment & selection of rescue equipment

 

Course Outline:
  • Health and safety regulations H&S 1974, PUWER, LOLER, Height Safety 2005
  • Be aware of different types of fall arrest and fall protection Systems, Safety Harnesses Inspection, Lanyard Inspection and Fault Finding
  • Safe methods of use, and Storage
  • Understanding the daily checks, inspections and maintenance
  • Be aware of damage and corrosion & defects
  • Recognise different types of Height Safety Products & Inspection
  • Rescue Plan and the affects of Suspension Trauma
  • Risk assessment & Method Statements use a Safe System of Work
  • Recognising defects & reporting procedure

 

Teaching Methods:
The course consists of Prepared Lectures, DVD/ Video presentations and practical demonstrations. RSS Training Course & Site Safety Books Supplied Information is based on LEEA Code of Practice, HSE Guidance .H&S Regulation. Fault Finding on Harness, Lanyards and Inspections, Height Safety Information Sheets.

 

Assessment:
Delegates will be required to undertake a Practical & theory assessment. Multi Choice Question.
